Elite ready for the PGA

Stanwell Park resident, Steve Melchior, more commonly known and seen around the Illawarra region as the face and body of Just Cruisin' Harley Tours, is also a manufacturerand importer of products aimed squarely at the outdoor leisure and sports market under his company name Elite Products.Born seven years ago out of the desire to provide a new level of freedom and independence for motorcycle enthusiasts and small car owners when travelling and camping around Australia, Steve started manufacturing the Elite Camper and Elite Camper Trailer range. Building on the strength of that success, Steve has now launched his latest product, this time directed predominantly at the golfing industry, the Elite Golf Trike.

The Elite Trike is offering individual golfers a very affordable and fun alternative to using the traditional electric golf cart and a comfortable alternative to walking the course using the hand-held golf buggy. The Trike also provides Golf Clubs with a colorful and practical addition to its hire fleet for members, doubling as a light and handy vehicle for staff to get around the venue on event days.

One of its main features of being stable but light to manoeuvre has resulted in a keen following for the younger agile, elderly or disabled golfer. Those golfers who are not as mobile or agile as they used to be have found the ease to which they are able to mount and dismount a pleasant surprise with the hydrolic 'fish' seat feature.

The Elite Trike is being embraced by Golf Clubs, with the first shipment selling out. Five are currently being trialed by the Wollongong Golf Club in advance of the Cellarbrations NSW PGA Championships with a view to acquiring their own fleet of Trikes for ongoing hire to members.

With the Australian C Tick of approval and the major distributor of the Trike in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, the Elite Trike is also proving itself to be a truly versatile utility vehicle with 25 sold recently to individual residents of Kalgoorlie, purely because it is just too hot to walk around; and the Security Industry in Queensland has quickly seen the opportunity for its adaptation into warehouses, malls and event venues.

Ulysses Club and Elite Campers continue their support of the Leukaemia Foundation

The Ulysses Club, a social club for motorcyclists over the age of 40 has raised $3,500 for the Leukaemia Foundation at its 26th Annual General Meeting in Penrith. Funds raised will go towards the care and cure of patients and families living with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and other blood related cancers.

The Ulysses Club is the largest motorcycle related club in the Southern Hemisphere with 138 branches across the country. Each year, club members from all around Australia travel to the designated location for the Annual General Meeting. This week of activities includes a Grand Parade through the town or city, several nights of various entertainment, a church service, official meetings and ceremonies, and various raffles that raise money for charities.

Director of Elite Campers and long time member of the Ulysses Club, Steve Melchior generously donated an Elite Camper Trailer to raffle at the AGM.

"It is through this type of support from major motorcycle manufacturers and suppliers that the Ulysses Club is able to contribute to the support of people living with a leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other blood related disorders," said Steve Melchior.

"The Ulysses Club not only provides ways in which older motorcyclists can get together for companionship and mutual support," continued Steve, "It draws the attention of public and private institutions to the needs and views of older riders. With the generosity and strong support of Elite Campers the Ulysses Club was able to support the Leukaemia Foundation as the majority of people diagnosed with lymphomas and myeloma are over the age of 50."

Approximately 270 of the Illawarra residents are diagnosed each year. The diseases often develop with little warning, requiring immediate, intensive and lengthy treatment. They can develop in anyone, of any age, at any time. For many living in regional and rural Australia such as Wollongong and Nowra, diagnosis means they must move quickly to a capital city and may need to stay for several months (average treatment is eight months). In reality, this means leaving work, school and family commitments with often little or no notice at all to commence treatment.

Leukaemia Foundation General Manager NSW/ACT Stuart Allen thanks the Ulysses Club and Elite Campers for their kind donation. "The Foundation is committed to providing its vital services to patients and families across Australia and the fundraising support of local communities and clubs such as the Ulysses Club is vital for the expansion and management of the increased incidence in blood cancers across the country," said Stuart.

"The resulting funds will ensure the Foundation can improve patients' quality of life through personalised and practical care. This includes the provision of free services including information and resources, education and support programs, transportation to and from treatment, 'home away from home' accommodation close to major hospitals, practical assistance and emotional support."
